If you know me personally, you know that I am a firm believer that it is always wine o’clock somewhere! I love wine and I love learning more about wine and the different things that you can pair with wine to have a truly delicious time! Notable wines are awesome because they take the guessing game out of the picture when you’re shopping in the wine aisle, because they have the notes of their wines right on their labels. They really take the guesssing game out of the picture because it is so easy to see the exact notes in the wine and get exactly what you want so that you are sipping on whatever you’re currently craving. With that being said, I’m here to give you some awesome chardonnay pairings for your next summer gathering, whether that is a large party or just you and bae!
I am usually a red girl myself, but let’s be honest, when it is hella hot outside like it has been the last couple weeks, I most certainly am trading my red wines in for whites in these temperatures. My fiance is a huge chardonnay fan, so during the summer, we like to pop open a bottle (or two) and enjoy some cheese while we are in the process of making dinner. We both love to eat, so the right cheese pairings for our wine really makes our date nights in special.
Crispy, Fruity Chardonnay Pairings: This wine is perfect for those that want something super refreshing. It has notes of citrus, melon, and peach for a truly light and yummy wine for these hot days! I personally love this one because I’m a huge fan of white wines that have somewhat tart fruit notes with a little minerality. This wine goes so well with mild, semi-soft cheeses. I paired the fruity and crisp chardonnay with some Port Salut and Triple Cream, and these creamy, mild cheeses went so seamlessly with the light notes of this wine.
Oaky, Buttery Chardonnay Pairings: My fiance literally lives for this type of chardonnay, so Notable’s Oaky and Buttery Chardonnay was right up his alley. This wine has notes of oak, butter, and vanilla. The vanilla notes in this wine really come through and make it truly delicious and a little rich. Because this chardonnay is a little heavier, you need to pair it with cheese that is a little more rich as well. You want to look for medium-sharp, film cheese for this type of wine. Cheese that has some assertiveness to it, such as smoked cheddar or this somehaus blue stood up really well next to this robust wine.
At the end of the day, it really isn’t rocket science: robust wines go with more robust cheeses, and more light and crisp wines go with lighter, more mild cheese.

Haven’t seen that around Michigan, but will have to look. Wife’s a sucker for buttery chard. Def try it with popcorn or risotto!
