First of all, may I offer my congratulations?! So many people got engaged over the holidays, it was truly a joy to see some of my good friends say yes or pop the big question. It is truly an amazing moment in your life, when you decide to embark on this crazy journey towards forever with that person you love most. Whatever your wedding plans may be—from the hugest of parties or an elopement at city hall—now is not the time to get caught up in that. Now is the time to savor the moment and celebrate!
While an engagement party is by no means a mandatory part of your engagement, its so much fun and I hightly recommend having one! Its an amazing opportunity to bring together all your favorite people to share your joy and excitedment while the engagement is still super fresh and new. They can be as extravagant or casual as you’d like, and they don’t have to cost you a ton of money…the same can be said for your engagement party outfit! When it came to our engagement party, I actually threw it together so fast. In many cases, someone who is your family member or close friend will throw this party for you, but in our case, we just decided to have our friends meet us at EP/LP, one of our favorite rooftop spots in Los Angeles, for cocktails. Unfortunately for me, my adorable engagement party outfit was mostly covered up because it was incredibly cold and windy that night….in the end we relocated the party to the indoor portion of the restaurant because it was just too cold. However, if you choose your location a little more wisely than I chose mine, this engagement party outfit could be a great idea for your soiree!
I found this dress at Forever 21 and it is a steal of a deal! This gem is less than $30 which is incredible. I decided to accessorize this very Marilyn Monroe-eque dress with this gorgeous body chain, also from Forever 21. My favorite part about this look has to be my “something blue” in the form of these heels that truly look like the blue Manolos that Mr. Big used to propose to Carrie. Actually, the best compliment I ever got was when I was shooting this look. A man came out of a restaurant in Pasadena where I was shooting and told me I looked like Sarah Jessica Parker. I literally died. Make sure to scroll to the end for all the links to these pieces!
