Few clothing items are as ubiquitous or as frequently talked about as the little black dress, or, more lovingly known as the LBD. Honestly, to me it is one of the most essential items any woman could have in her closet. I know that I’m usually all about getting the best deal when it comes to shopping, but sometimes it is best to invest in pieces that are going to last you and get a lot of wear, like a little black dress. But before we get to that, I want to talk for a second about the little black dress that I am wearing in this post, because I am obsessed with it! This little number is from one of my favorite websites to get really cool and different designer pieces, ifchic.com. They have such a great colection of designers like Public School, Derek Lam, Tibi, and more. This dress is Derek Lam, and I love the all the small details on it, from the white stitching to the pockets. The shape itself and the lines the stitching creates is also incredibly flattering, making this dress totally worthy of the splurge as I know I’ll be wearing this for years to come! Make sure to check out the end of this post to shop this whole look!
Now, let’s talk reasons to invest in the little black dress…
- They’re timeless. The LBD just never goes out of style, that is why it is such a wardrobe staple.
- You can wear them almost anywhere, for any occasion. Ok, maybe not your niece’s soccer game, but hey, if you roll that way, own it!
- They’re easily dressed up or down. I could have easily worn some more casual shoes with this and made it a more daytime-friendly look. Make sure when you do make the investment to not get something that is too formal if you want it to be more versatile.
- They are so easy to wear…honestly, I like to think of the little black dress as an empty canvas. You can go more minimal, as I did here, or you can throw on your loudest, most colorful accessories to brighten up the look. Pretty much anything goes with black, so the possibilities are endless.
