I have been completely jealous of all the bloggers out there who have photographer boyfriends/husbands/partners because that must be so freakin’ convenient to have a built-in photographer always on hand to help you shoot your outfit posts, right?! I have been trying to slowly get my own boyfriend Nate to become this, but some days he’s a little more enthusiastic about this than others. (Although I have learned to make sure he’s well fed before making this request!) You can image my surprise then when I came home from class yesterday and he actually suggested we go take blog pictures. Maybe this is where I should’ve gotten a little suspicious, but I was just so happy with his initiative, and I definitely wasn’t going to turn this offer down, so off I went to freshen up and throw on this outfit. He then suggested that instead of opting for the easier and closer location of a nearby pink wall that we head up to the Mulholland Drive lookout point, because those were sure to be way better pictures than just some old pink wall. This is point number two where I should’ve started to get suspicious, but again, I was just too happy to receive this level of enthusiasm for taking blog photos!
We headed up to said point and had to wait a bit for the wave of tourists to get back into their respective rental cars and tour busses so we could score one of the few coveted parking spots. With that accomplished, we walked up the stairs to the lookout point and then climbed down to a little trail that led off the beaten path and away from all the selfie-stick wielding visitors. We took some pictures, showcasing this outfit I’ve practically been living in lately. Seriously, I’m not usually an outfit-repeater in the same week, but I’m pretty sure I’ve worn this three times this week.

After a couple minutes, Nate mentioned that we needed to get some accessory shots. At this point, my internal monolog was like, “Damn! Look at my man, he’s really becoming such a great blog photographer!” It was then that he mentioned that there was one accessory I still needed to shoot…and that’s when he pulled a ring box out of his jacket pocket and my mind literally did not know how to process what was happening. He got down on one knee and of course, I said yes!
We are so excited and I could not be happier with my ring, it is incredible! Nate designed it himself with my vintage jewelry love in mind, I couldn’t ask for anything better. I was completely taken by surprise and had no idea he was going to pop the question yesterday, which is exactly what I wanted! Major props to him for completely taking me by surprise. I just thought we were going to take pictures and little did I know this was going to actually be an engagement post! I’m also pretty stoked about the fact that I got myself all dolled up for a “blog post,” because my tired after school face would not have been the most fun to look back on, if you know what I mean. My only regret is that my nails look like a trainwreck at a time like this, but you can’t have everything I guess. 😉
I’m really excited to start wedding planning, so I’m sure you will be seeing some posts related to that coming up as I go through all of that process. If you are married, I would LOVE to hear any and all advice you have on planning, because God knows I will need it!

Promise, best advice of life is imagine your perfect wedding. Who is there, where you are, what you are wearing. DO EXACTLY THAT. Don’t make it bigger because your mom “wants a big wedding” or under a waterfall because your friend said it looked amazing on YouTube and your cousin loves Jim and Pam. Trust me, this is the most important thing to keep in mind, and the easiest to forget: do what you guys want.
This is coming from a bride and groom who lived in Texas, and family that all lived in South America, Europe, Michigan, and even Australia. If you want to know how it turned out… it was amazing 😉 and it ended up being 2 weddings . be open to delegating. You know what I just realized I need to make a post re telling my experience, it might help some brides to be 🤗 . I’ll let you know on Instagram when it is up so you can check it out. But in short, keep with your priorities and delegate, delegate, delegate.

Such good advice!!! I hope my parents can accept that lol I’m pretty sure they want it in TN but our home is here in Los Angeles now so that’s gonna probably be a struggle 😵
