Here we are, New York Fashion Week day 4! This was my last full day in New York for fashion week, and believe me when I tell you, at this point, I was EXHAUSTED. When the title of this post tells you I only wore one outfit all day, you know I was on the brink of not giving any f’s. Also, I should note that this outfit was completely not pre-planned as the majority of my other looks were before I left for my trip. I totally meant to wear this shirt with something else, until I spotted my roomate Keyma’s skirt and had a brilliant idea born out of my new-found adventurousness from observing so many street style looks up until this point. I mean seriously…I am mixing two prints here and I have a bow in the front on my skirt and in the back on my top. I was going for it with this one, but I am actually really obsessed with this look and wouldn’t even hesitate to wear it back home in Tennessee where I know I’d get strange looks for this. (lol)
My inspiration behind this look was if an uber chic Italian woman came to fashion week. I feel as though certain elements of this look, like the earrings and the dramatic sleeves on the top, are serving serious Dolce and Gabana vibes, but I could be wrong.
Also, I did not suddenly aquire a Celine bag if you were wondering. This was also borrowed from one of my other roomates, Lee, who was lucky enough to grab a couple bags from Le Tote before fashion week, lucky girl. Obviously, I asked to borrow it for this shoot because its only one of those bags I dream of owning!
Top: Zara, old, similar/ Skirt: J.Crew (on sale!)/ Booties: Steve Madden/ Bag: Celine/ Sunnies: Karen Walker, similar
Ok, now let’s get real: did you really think I was going to wear those high heel booties all day long?! Hah, the joke is on you, because at this point, my feet even hurt while wearing sneakers. But as sneakers were the only shoe I could wear with any kind of dignity, that’s what I changed into. And I think the look really still works with some Stan Smiths, if I do say so myself!
Ah, I do miss my fashion week blogger besties. <3
As day 4 of fashion week was also September 11th, I really wanted to make it a point to go down to the World Trade Center and see the memorial, as I had never seen it before. It was actually pretty wild to be in New York City on September 11th. From the moment I stepped out on the street that morning, I could tell the energy was decidedly different. What I did not know is that the actual 9/11 memorial is reserved only for friends and family of those who were killed in the towers, so you can’t actually go see the memorial. While I’m sad that I didn’t get to see it, I totally understand why this would be. We still took a walk around Liberty Park and paid our respects in our own way.
After this brief trip, we headed back to Soho for the Hakkan Akaya show.
I loved the bold looks in this show! Everything was all black and white, featuring bold lines and sheer cutouts.
After Hakan Akkaya, I was ready to just chill out. Like I said earlier, this is day 4, and I was exahusted and not trying to rush back to the hotel to change my outfit. I was must more interested in exploring Soho and getting an actual bite to eat…possibly one of the four meals I actually sat down to eat like a respectable human being the whole entire trip! I happened to be looking through a friend’s Instagram feed and saw a photo of Sosta and decided I had to go give it a try.
Imagine my delight when they had two things that make my heart happy: Aperol Spritzes and beautiful Italian pasta dishes that can be substituted with zuchini noodles. Man, was I in heaven!
After this delicious but quick meal, we decided to do a little shopping in Soho. Unfortunately, it was more like hobbling through Soho as all of our feet were just beat up. We did manage to make it to the Riviere Agency’s happy hour at the Antique Garage in Tribeca, which is basically where I want to live because, HELLO this places is gorgeous!
After happy hour, Lee and I managed to make it to the Mimi Prober show, which I must say is a great feat considering we sucked down about 4 cocktails each at happy hour and it was a 7pm show…which is basically the time I wanted to go to bed, but still I perservered!
I loved the Victorian/boho sort of looks at Mimi Prober. This particular look was one of my favorites. It kind of gave me chic/sexy widow vibes…? Is that a thing?
Thanks so much for reading my NYFW recap! I’ve got one more day to come, so stay tuned!
