Hello everyone! I’m finally back from New York Fashion Week and I am on the mend…seriously, it took about 2 days for me to feel like a human being again! I can’t wait to share with you my recaps over the next week of each of my days at fashion week, so without further ado, let’s get started!
First off, I’m starting with my travel outfit…or what I thought was going to be my travel outfit. The morning of, I decided to go t-shirt instead of this blouse, but I still thought this was a super cute look to share with you all anyway! In hindsight, I wish I would’ve just worn this look because it would’ve meant that I would have had a cuter outfit to wear when Jet Blue lost my luggage…but more on that to come…
The raw, step hem on these H&M jeans are literally the perfect cut for wearing ankle booties! I also love this embroidered detail on the pocket:
“Girls bite back!” Yeah, you know it! 😉

Alright. On to the fun stuff! So first of all, let me begin by saying that I had not been to New York since I was 18, and was really looking forward to being back in the city as an adult and getting to experience it a little bit more than I previously had. Yes, I was so excited when I landed at JFK not only for fashion week, but also just to be back in this amazing city. After running into one of my UCLA professors on the plane (so random!) I headed for baggage claim to get my seriously overweight bag and snag an Uber to my hotel in the city. Imagine my sheer horror when I started to realize that all fellow passengers had gotten their bags and left and my massive pink suitcase still hadn’t made an appearance at baggage claim. All that was running through my head at this point was: No Satan, not. today. You can imagine the poor souls who happened to be working at the JetBlue baggage office wished they’d called in sick that day. I was livid, especially since I arrived for my flight with plenty of time for my bag to have made it on the plane! I mean, of all trips for my bag to get lost, WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE FASHION WEEK?!
With a heavy heart, but one less heavy bag, I called an Uber and headed to the city. I may have cried a little bit in the backseat on the way there. Looking back, it seems like total #firstworldproblems, but at the time I felt ROUGH y’all. I spent a small fortune and borrowed from showrooms in order to look extra at fashion week and had no confidence that the airline knew where my bag was. It was a nightmare. But I had to quickly dry my tears, because upon arriving at my hotel, I had to check in quickly and run to a fitting for some of the shows I was attending.
As I wanted to get that full NYC experience (and save some serious money) I decided from the get go to take the subway as many places as possible. So my first stop was Grand Central Station to buy a metro card for the week and head downtown for my fitting. I couldn’t help but snap a pic, this place is seriously beautiful!
After my fitting, I ran to Zara before they closed to scrape together something to wear the next day and prayed to God that my suitcase would materalize in the afternoon. I was definitely happy the next morning to wake up and wear something new and not what I’d been wearing for almost 24 hours, and I think this outfit definitely was cute, if not what I’d planned, at least I was looking alright for my first half day of fashion week!
I was also super fortunate to be invited to the disco-themed Bollare gifting suite…seriously, if I would’ve been stuck without a suitcase for a longer period of time, they would’ve saved me. I snagged a lot of great pieces there to style and I can’t wait to share them with you in the season ahead!
After the gifting suite, I had to run, bags and all, to my first NYFW fashion show, Galtiscopio. I can’t tell you all the feels I had sitting in my first show! Of course, I’ve been to fashion shows here in LA before many times, but to sit there and watch my first show in New York, it really was something. I loved all the beautiful looks at Galtiscopio. Each one was so glam and modern, and I really loved all the unique touches on the pieces. Here’s a couple shots of my favorite pieces:
It was at Galtiscopio that I ran into one of my many long-time blogger friends who I hadn’t yet met in real life, Lily from Hello Darling Blog! We seriously hit it off from the start as she is so so sweet and down to earth, and we are kind of style twins. Just wait for it: in the coming posts, you’ll see what I mean!
After the show, I ran to a meeting with Lily at the Eliza J offices and previewed their gorgeous holiday collection. I seriously want everything!
Thankfully, when I arrived back at my hotel later that afternoon, my suitcase was there waiting for me. I cried actual tears of joy when I saw it, no joke y’all! At that point, it was time to get ready for the evening’s parties, so I hauled my bag upstairs to my room and got party appropriate, because we were headed to the Saks party!
I was so fortunate to be able to attend the launch party for Saks Fifth Avenue’s newly renovated third floor. Seriously, to actually get to go to the Saks on Fifth Ave was cool enough, but attending this party was pretty freaking cool. I wore my brand new Fame and Partners dress for the occasion, and took every opportunity to show off this backless style:
The party was amazing! There was no shortage of bubbly, and best of all, Goldfrapp performed! If you don’t know who she is….get it together and go listen because her music is electronic gold.
One of the coolest parts about this party: all of the live models in the window displays with the manequins!
Well, that about wraps up my first day and a half at fashion week! I hope you enjoyed, but please stay tuned because there’s more to come!
