Los Angeles Boho Bridal Shower
I would say happy Wedding Wednesday, but ya know, I can never seem to get my wedding related posts together early enough in the week to get them up by Wednesday! Maybe someday before I get married, I will get this timing right. In any case, I wanted to share the details of my gorgeous boho bridal shower with you all because not only did it let me live out my boho bride dreams, it was also so much fun! A couple months ago, I was stumbling through insta, as one does, and I stumbled upon Maker’s Mess, which is an adorable DIY and Art class studio here in Los Angeles. Being the crafty person that I am but also having no time whatsoever to do anything crafty, I quickly fell in love with all their fun ideas and determined I would hit up one of their fun crafting workshops soon. Then…it dawned on me…what if I had my bridal shower there?
After a little inquiry, I found that indeed, Maker’s Mess indeed hosts events, like bridal showers…birthday parties…you name it… in their space, so I swiftly moved to book it. If you aren’t into a traditional bridal shower type format, and you are crafty and love tapping into your creative side like I do, then this spot may be your ideal bridal shower. From the moment I walked into the space, I was so excited to have a fun afternoon with my girls just diving into whatever the ladies at Maker’s Mess had for us. For my shower, our hosts led us through how to create flower crowns and watercolor paintings of feathers. Not your typical bridal shower fare, but definitely hands on and something that gets all your bridal shower guests involved.
The flower crowns were definitely a challenge for me…I’m just not the best at flower arranging. Thank goodness I had my friend Ashley on hand to help make sure my crown looked bomb…I owe it all to you Ash! Seeing how everyone else put their flower crown together was so fun and I loved that we all had this gorgeous accessory we got to wear for the rest of the party.
In keeping with the boho bridal shower theme, the second activity we worked on was a boho-style watercolor painting of feathers. I loved to create with watercolors when I was younger, but haven’t done it in so long. The ladies of Maker’s Mess led us through some different watercolor techniques that helped refresh my memory of the medium and also helped me learn a couple new watercolor skills that I didn’t know before.
What is a bridal shower without snacks? I definitely owe all these yummy goodies to my babe Ashley of Three Pretty Beans. Make sure you check out her blog because she’s always sharing incredible recipes like these as well as fun DIY, fashion, and travel tips. If you want the specific recipes from my shower (they were so yummy and perfect!) you can get all those details from her post here. PS….those adorabe “yay!” signs in the mini blt sandwhiches? She makes those too…head to her Etsy shop for more adorable party decor you can score!
Throwing my bridal shower at Maker’s Mess was such a memorable experience and honestly was a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle of wedding planning and work for an afternoon. Even if you aren’t looking to host an event, make sure to check them out and sign up for one of their incredible workshops. I personally am excited to go back in and learn more awesome crafty skills from Maker’s Mess when I am done with all this crazy wedding stuff.
