Guess who’s baaaaack? If you have been following along on instagram and snapchat, (msmoorestyle) then you have to be aware that I have been running all around Europe for the last couple weeks. Accompanied by my friend Wendy, I visited Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Florence, and Rome. This trip was something that I have wanted to do for such a long time, so I decided that there was no time like the present to fulfill a dream I’ve had for many years. I had the time of my life, and I want to share a bit of my travels with you. In honor of this, for the next week or so, my posts will not only be about fashion, but also about the experiences I had in these cities.
Our first destination was none other than Paris. To say that I fell in love with Paris is somewhat of an understatement. I have always had a fascination with this city and knew that I would love this place. I had two huge priorities when visiting Paris: one was obviously to visit the Eiffel Tower, and the other was to get myself a pair of Louboutins….but we will come back to that in a bit…
You might be wondering why there is a soccer ball hanging in the Eiffel Tower. We happened to visit Paris at the very beginning of the Eurocup, so the soccer ball was in honor of that.
The Eiffel Tower is without a doubt the most iconic structure in all of France, so it gets many visitors each day. One thing I wish I would’ve known before I went is that you can buy your tickets to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower in advance. Otherwise, you have to wait in a long tine. Fortunately for me, the line wasn’t too bad, but this was probably unusual since the summer months are their busiest time.
You definitely want to go to the top floor…trust me…the view is INCREDIBLE. Also, they have champagne up there so…
When you leave the Eiffel Tower, there’s a beautiful park just adjacent to it that is great to grab yet some more champagne, ride the carousel, and people watch.
Now, onto what you guys are really interested in: Louboutins! I know, I am usually a huge advocate of finding bargains and not spending a ton of money on clothes. $500+ pairs of shoes don’t really fit into that category, BUT…hear me out. I have been dying to have a pair for, well, I have no idea how long. Plus, the nude pumps, as well as any other neutral style, are classics that you can keep forever. So really, they are an investment. That’s how I look at it at least. Here in the US, Louboutins are marked up in price due to the fact that they are imported. On the other hand, if you buy them in Paris, they are a bit cheaper. On top of that, you also get the tax (which is built into their prices) back when you leave the country. So really, I got a deal on these shoes! 😉
I chose to go to the location at 19 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, near the Louvre Museum. This store is awesome because it is their flagship store, so they are well stocked with lots of styles and sizes. I read that sometimes there is a line outside the door to get in. They only allow a certain amount of people in at a time, so make sure you get there early, around their opening time of 10:30 if you intend to go on a weekend as that is their busiest time. We went on a Thursday afternoon and there were barely any people in the store so it worked out perfectly. Their staff is also super friendly and helpful, I loved every minute shopping there!
I went for the nude “Pigalle Follies” because they are the perfect height. I had thought I wanted the “So Kate” but as the salesman said, “With Kate, you put them on, you go to dinner, you sit, you smile, you are happy, and then you go home.” Those So Kate heels are super tall and thin, so they are definitely more of a challenge than I wanted to deal with.
When shopping for Louboutins in Paris (or making any other large purchase for that matter) make sure you have your passport on you! It must be your actual passport and not a photocopy, as the salesperson will need this to do the paperwork that will get you your tax money back later. We made the mistake of not having ours on us and had to come back later in order to accomplish this crucial step. To get your taxes back, you must go to a customs officer in the airport of your last destination in Europe. If you are leaving directly from Paris, you can do it there, or if you are like us and plan to leave from another city, you can go through their customs officers to get the necessary stamp and processing for your tax refund.
Obviously, once I had these beauties, I couldn’t help but snap some pics with them in front of the Eiffel Tower. What a better way to break in those red soles than this?

Had no idea you could get tax back when shopping overseas, but I guess it makes sense. How much did your Louboutins end up being if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been following your Europe story via Instagram and it looks like you had a ton of fun!

The pair I bought would’ve been $675 here in the us, there they cost €515, which is about $569. The tax was about €67 (included in the price) so I got back about $74.
