The other night, Nate and I decided to run over to Universal Citywalk to catch a movie. I didn’t have much time, so I grabbed my new silk slip dress
from The Reset and popped on a necklace and a pair of heels and decided I was good to go. Nate looked at me and was like….are you wearing a nightgown? I honestly LOL so much at his reactions to my outfits sometimes, but he has a point…the silk slip dress is just a glorified nightgown that we have all decided is now socially acceptable to wear in public! This has been one of my favorite trends as of late, so I thought I would show you two different ways to style this wardrobe staple!
The Silk Slip Dress: Dressy and Feminine
The silk slip dress is the perfect feminine and minimalistic piece for date night. I love pairing it with barely there heels to keep the minimalistic vibe going. As it is a bit shapeless, I decided to accentuate my waist with this gold chain belt, another huge trend this year. As this look is super neutral, you could go with a bold bag, but I decided to keep things more monochromatic but still interesting with a clear plastic bag. Ps- this bag is great to have if you like going to college or professional football games as they require you to have a clear bag for security reasons….I got this to attend my first football game last winter but its so cute I definitely have been using it a ton since!
Silk Slip Dress: Sporty/Street Style
Another awesome way to style this dress is by dressing it down and adding a little bit of edge. I love to put it over a plain white tee shirt as the first step in making this dress a little less fancy and a little more casual. To make it perfect for running around town, I grabbed a bum bag and wore it cross body for a look that is edgy and fashion-forward but also allows you to be hands free. Of course, sneakers would work great here, but I went out of my comfort zone a bit and tried styling some flat-form sandals with athletic socks….definitely not a look that is for everyone, but if you’re looking to channel street style vibes, this is a great way to do it!
