I wanted to take a little break from our normal fashion content to get a little real with you all today about being prepared for any of life’s curveballs, especially when your
contraceptive plan (or lack thereof) fails. It is 2018, so we should be able to talk about these things without
being ashamed, and I am all for female empowerment in this regard. As you may know if you’ve been following along here and on my social media channels, I got married to the love of my life last week and it was basically the best day ever. Because of this, what I am about to write about may seem weird coming from me, but hold tight because it will all become clear soon!
For about the last 12 years, there was one thing I knew I could not do, and that was to get pregnant before I was ready. For me, being “ready” meant that I wanted to be older, more settled in my life and my career, and married. This is my own personal preference and what I wanted for my life, and although I know other people take different paths and make different choices in their lives, I knew that the key to getting where I wanted to be depended, dare I say hinged on not having an accidental pregnancy. To this end, I have always been extremely careful and meticulous with my contraceptive plan, but that isn’t to say I haven’t had some “oh, sh*t” moments throughout the years. Fast forward to today, and I made it! I’m older, I’m married, and I have the beginnings of a career that I really love.
Except that it doesn’t stop there. I am still not quite ready for a family yet…after all, I just graduated college and would love some time to just have some space to enjoy life for a little while before I give up freedom again. Plus, I want to just enjoy being married for a bit. The thing is, I get to decide when I want to start a family, and that is the most powerful thing. You can decide too. Just because you’re at a certain point in your life when people expect you to start a family doesn’t mean you have to. You may never want to start a family, and that’s ok too. You could be in college working your a** off and nowhere near ready for a baby yet. Wherever you are in your life, you have the power to be able to control and prevent unwanted pregnancies before they start, and that is where Prevetenza ™ comes in.
Prevetenza ™ is an emergency contraceptive that has the same ingredients as birth control, just in a higher dose. It can work if taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. I highly recommend having some on hand with you, whether that’s in your bathroom cabinet or in a safe place in your purse. When you are prepared for anything, you can keep calm and carry on with your life knowing you have the necessary tools to keep you on track to accomplish your goals so that when you are able to start a family when you are ready.
