This Airbnb Bucket List post has been sponsored by Airbnb, however, all my thoughts and opinions are my own! Thank you for supporting the brands that help make Miss Moore Style possible!
I’m about to admit one of my more random 2020 hobbies to you, so here goes: one thing I like to do in my spare time is scroll Airbnb and add some of the coolest listings I find to my “bucket list” folder. With travel in 2020 largely on hold thanks to Covid-19, this is one way I like to fantasize about getting back to exploring when things someday go back to normal. If you are like me and you find some comfort or entertainment in planning future trips, this post is for you, because I am about to share some of the coolest US listings I have found over the year that maybe you too might want to save for a future getaway! I love staying at Airbnbs when I travel because it gives you completely different feeling than staying in a hotel…you feel more at home even though you’re away, and like a local even though you are technically a tourist. On top of that, as you are about to see, Airbnbs are a lot of times just way more cool than any hotel room. Without further ado, here’s my Airbnb Bucket List for 2021:
Airbnb Bucket List for 2021
Hudson Valley Bali House Retreat, Rosendale, New York
With the future of international travel uncertain, I am always looking for unique Airbnb’s to escape to that make me feel like I am somewhere far, far away, and this Hudson Valley Bali House retreat is PERFECT for that. Just looking at the photos I already feel a sense of calm and serenity. I’ve never been to Bali, but the gorgeous water views, spacious decks with hammocks, and breezy, open feeling accommodations seem spot on for giving you that far off Bali feel. The house consists of 4 pods in the Bali tradition, and can sleep 8, so it would be a great getaway for a family or a small group of friends.
Elegant Flat in the Historic Lower Garden District, New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans has been on my domestic bucket list of locations for so long. I hope in 2021 I will finally get to check it out and stay at this gorgeous flat when I do! This apartment’s decor certainly speaks to me…I’m in love with every detail. This residence dates back to 1875 and has 12 foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and lovely period details and original artwork. The whole vibe of this space is perfect for a trip to New Orleans and exudes that historical charm that makes a visit there so appealing to me. As an added bonus, tons of reviewers have noted that its in a quiet, safe neighborhood and the perfect walking distance from all the action.
Vermont Schoolhouse Farm Cottage: Shaftsbury, Vermont
This quaint little getaway is a newly renovated, historic schoolhouse that overlooks a 270 acre regenerative organic farm! I was immediately drawn to its bright and open floorplan with a peaceful and rustic feel. What REALLY sold me on this listing, however, was the hot tub and the barrel sauna! Nothing is more fun than chilling in a hot tub or a sauna in the snow. This little cottage looks like the kind of place I’d never want to leave.
Otter Rock Surf Yurt, Otter Rock, Oregon
The Oregon coast is an amazing destination and incredibly beautiful. This “surf yurt” is super close to the beach which makes it great for surfers and beach lovers alike. When looking for locations to add to my Airbnb Bucket list, one thing that always piques my interest are interesting and unusual dwellings, and a yurt is definitely unusual! I love the airiness this yurt has because of all the windows, letting in all the light and all the gorgeous Oregon coast views. The surf yurt is perfect if you’re the adventurous sort that doesn’t mind a bit of roughing it…this listing is BYOB (bring your own bedding) and has an outdoor shower…sounds like an adventure to me!
Secluded Intown Treehouse, Atlanta, Georgia
This is “Airbnb’s #1 most wish-listed property in the world” and it is clear to see why! I was in disbelief when the listing stated it was in Atlanta, minutes from downtown….it looks like the Swiss Family Robinson, nowhere near civilization. This treehouse has several bedrooms and the most dreamy indoor/outdoor setup under the canopy of big, overhanging trees. The treehouse consists of 3 separate areas – Mind, Body and Spirit – each connected by rope-bridges. This urban retreat would be a dream stay to rest, relax, and unwind in peace, but with the city so close, you have the option to explore the thriving urban center of Atlanta if you wish. To me, this peaceful setting in such close proximity to a large city is the perfect getaway to have some fun but also slow down at the same time.
Breathtaking Designer Mountain Retreat, Cottonwood Heights, Utah
If the mountains are calling you, then this Airbnb is your dream retreat. This home is a work of modern art, designed by architect Guy Drier, it has floor to ceiling windows that will give you a full view of the gorgeous mountain views. I love the indoor/outdooor concept of this home, it truly allows you to feel like you are immersed in this beautiful Utah landscape outside. This listing can sleep 10 people, so it would make an incredible family retreat!
The Private Islands of Old House Cay, Hilton Head, South Carolina
Usually when I’m searching for Airbnb listings, I always filter for “entire home,” but when I saw this listing for an “entire island,” I immediately added this home to my Airbnb dream bucket list! I can’t say that I’ve ever had the unique experience of staying on my own island, and it is definitely one that I need to check off my list someday. This home is a secluded, peaceful retreat that is only accessible by boat. Old House Cay is a series of inter-connected, Private Islands that boasts an off-grid house, observation tower on Calibogue Sound, and 3+ acres of fun. All just a short boat ride from Hilton Head Island, SC. Its the perfect place if you want to really, really get away from it all.
The Green Door PDX: A European Inspired Cottage, Portland, Oregon
“All the luxuries of a hotel, with the comforts of home.” This Portland, Oregon listing is what my dreams are made of! I love how luxurious it feels while also having such a clean and minimalistic, European feel. This guesthouse was designed to have an open and airy feel with a sense of luxurious comfort, like staying in a five star hotel. The bathroom seriously looks like a spa. What a great base from which to explore all the fun that Portland has to offer!
That’s it, I have bared all my best Airbnb dream bucket list homes with you! Make sure to comment a couple of your dream listings so I can check those out as well.
