Oh hayyy, its Fridayyy! Ok, so seriously, as soon as Friday rolls around, my mind is thinking…is it wine o’clock yet? You can judge me all you want, but this girl loves her wine. One of my absolute favorite things to do is to get out of Los Angeles and explore a new wine region. Paso Robles is one California wine region that I am already familiar with and love very dearly. When my friends Pete and Ashley (of Three Pretty Beans) asked Nate and I to join them for a weekend up in Paso Robles, I pretty much didn’t even let them finish their sentence before I said…YES!
PS, if video is more your thing, I’ve embedded a travel vlog of this trip that is uploaded on my youtube page…make sure to check that out below!

Paso Robles is a booming wine region in Central California. To hear the locals tell it, the number of wineries has multiplied in the just the last 10 years. I personally love the wines that come out of this climate and can rarely find a Paso Robles vineyard that I don’t love! One thing that I enjoy about this region is that it is really chill. You can definitely get some serious wine tasting done, but the vibe of Paso Robles is much more laid back than say, Napa or Sonoma. When I’m in Paso, I definitely feel relaxed and enjoy the quaint country scene.
First off, it has to be mentioned that we got to stay in the vintage house at Bianchi Wines. This is our second time staying here, and honestly, staying at the vineyard house on Bianchi can’t be beat. It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that sits on one of my favorite ever vineyards and it truly is an escape from the craziness that is LA life. Definitely consider staying there on your next trip to Paso Robles. To get more info on booking this house, click here!
We had the incredible privilege of getting to do a barrel tasting at Bianchi…it was so cool to get to taste the wines before they go out to be bottled and to learn about how the different flavor profiles are likely to change a bit from what we were initially tasting.

p style=”text-align: center;”>Our first day in Paso did not give us a ton of time to do a lot of tastings, but we did manage to get to L’Aventure. Make sure that if you wan to come taste at this awesome vineyard that you make an appointment…you don’t be sorry because all of their wines are so delicious. I also loved how secluded and tucked away this vineyard was.
Ps….why am I wearing a white shirt to go wine tasting?! Super bad idea, especially for me!
While it is amazing to stay at home on the vineyard and cook, sometimes you just gotta go out and let someone brilliant cook for you, especially when you’ve got a cute dress to wear, am I right? On our first night, we decided to hit up the quaint and oh so adorable downtown Paso Robles for dinner at Thomas Hill Organics. The food is so delicious and they have the cutest patio which was perfect for a summer night dinner. I wish I had pics of food but I ate it way too fast to document it, as per the usual! 😉
I can’t stress enough how amazing it is to stay at the vintage house at Bianchi…the first night we went outside and laid on the grass and just looked at the stars. You really never see the stars in Los Angeles, so seeing them out in the country without the bright city lights is a major treat to say the least. I saw my first ever shooting star and it was an epic one!
On our second day, we really got down to the business of Paso Robles wine tasting. Here’s the thing, when you’re out as a group wine tasting all day, you don’t want to have one of your friends in charge of driving. First of all, its not responsible, and second of all, why would you want that when you can have a Paso Robles wine expert drive you around?! Here you have it folks, my best kept secret of Paso Robles: Ron, “my wine driver.” We stumbled upon Ron during our first visit to Paso Robes years ago, and he was the best discovery ever. Basically, you can hire Ron (or his lovely wife) to drive you around Paso Robles in your car for an hourly rate. They are super affordable (especially when splitting this between a group) but their knowledge of the wine region is invaluable. We basically just tell Ron what kinds of wines we love, and he suggests the wineries that would suit our tastes the best. This is a personalized service that Uber or Lyft just can’t provide, so definitely look them up next time you’re in Paso Robles!
Paso Robles Wineries We Love
Ok, now for our favorite vineyards we visited….here goes….
Justin
I can’t say enough good things about Justin…I’m just never disappointed by the wines ever. This was my first time visiting their winery and it is truly beautiful. They also have a small hotel called “Just Inn,” so if you wanted to stay here, that’s totally an option I would not be mad at in the least.
Whalebone
I think I heard that Whalebone is so named because they found whale bones on the property?! I could be totally wrong, so don’t quote me on that one. I have always loved this vineyard because they have delicious, accessible wines at a great price point that you could take home and drink that night. Plus, this tasting room as personality in spades. They have tons of cute cats lounging around everywhere, as well as one very lovable bulldog. You can also partake in some olive oil tasting in their tasting room. Less popular fact: Paso Robles is also known for their olive oil production!
Whalebone also has some fun games to play on their porch. Ashley killed me at Tic Tac Toe….I’m blaming it on the wine!
Pasolivo
Alright I don’t have tons of photos of Pasolivo, but its only because I was so busy eating all the bread and olive oil…do you blame me though?! This place makes the most amazing olive oil and spice blends and you can go in for a tasting. Its a great way to take a break from boozing and definitely will help elongate your wine tasting day if you make a pit stop here.
Proulx
Proulx was an amazing winery that we had never heard of but luckily, our wine driver Ron recommended it to us to try based off of our preferences. We were not sorry! Their rose is so so so yummy, I couldn’t help but buy a few bottles.
Eberle
Eberle was a decent winery, but it got bonus points for being open one hour later than most of the other vineyards. While our palettes probably weren’t any good at this point, that didn’t stop us from trying the wines here. Also, the view is pretty gorgeous and they have an amazing patio to drink a glass or two and take in the sunset.
