As a Southern California girl, planning my outfits for a winter getaway can be a little bit of a challenge! If you want to know what to wear in Bend, Oregon (or any other winter getaway) while still looking chic, I’ve got some great suggestions for you!
Bend is known as a mecca for all things outdoor adventure. In the summer, you can go hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. In the winter, you can head to Mount Bachelor for some skiing and snowboarding, go snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice skating. So regardless of what time of year you visit, having some activewear to help you enjoy all these activities is a must.
Let’s say you’re not a big outdoorsy or active person….don’t worry, Bend has tons to offer you as well! With so many incredible restaurants, breweries, wineries, and art galleries, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy. Make sure to check out my Bend Travel Guide for some fun ideas of what to do while you’re in Bend. On our trip, we did a bit of both. I packed a mix of warm activewear with some chic winter pieces to keep me warm and stylish both outdoors and in the city.
On average, the daytime high temperatures in Bend are in the low 40’s F. The low night time temps tend to be in the low 20’s F. I noticed a definite difference in temperature between the city versus the mountain/snow park areas as well. Regardless of your itinerary, pack a warm coat, thermal under layers, hats, scarves, and gloves.
What to Wear in Bend Oregon: Winter Getaway Outfit Ideas
What to wear in Bend….in the snow!
If you are headed to Central Oregon and want to know what to wear in Bend, Oregon for all your snowy adventures, I got you! As someone who is on the curvier side, I’ve always found it hard to find a snow outfit that is flattering and doesn’t make me look like the Michelin Man. Puffer coats were not always my friend, however, I think I found one that is warm AND flattering. Let me introduce you to the Bonita Puffer from Noize! It is mid length and it has a waist tie. These two things really help the classic puffer look a little more flattering!
On top of being flattering and a super fun, iridescent color, this Noize puffer is super warm. In case you aren’t familiar with Noize, they’re a vegan Canadian based outerwear brand. All their coats are cruelty free and their puffers are stuffed with recycled materials in place of traditional down. I believe these coats are a wonderful, responsible, and super affordable alternative to much higher end down coat brands.
For our snowshoeing trek, I paired my puffer with some snow pants from North Face. This pair is a bit old but here are a couple similar pairs here and here. Of course, you wouldn’t want to go out without a hat! Mine is super extra (and vintage) but this is a great similar option here.
No winter activity is complete without some warm gloves. In general, I prefer mittens over gloves since your fingers actually stay warmer when they can be next to each other. Whether I’m hitting the slopes or snowshoeing to a bonfire, my go to pair is from Astis Mittens. I get compliments on these constantly! They’re a bit of an investment, but so beautiful and one of a kind. Astis is a brand that is located out of Colorado and they make these stunning suede snow gloves with fringe and beading. Not only are they super stylish but also super warm!!!
If you want to stand out and look like a chic snow bunny, then go all out and get a snowsuit! I’ve had this one from Dolls Kill for several years now and every time I wear it skiing, I get tons of compliments. It is definitely the outfit I wear when I want attention! Make sure that you still layer up under a snowsuit though. I love Uniqlo’s Heattech base layers because they’re thin but also keep you toasty!
Me and my girl Elise definitely stood out on the mountain! I love her metallic snowsuit as well…I may have to get one myself! 😉 If you’re looking for more ideas on what to wear in Bend, Oregon, check out her blog post here!

What to wear in Bend Oregon: Casual Daytime Outfit Ideas
If I had to categorize the overall style aesthetic of Bend, it would be casual and always ready for an outdoor activity. Of course in the winter, warmth also plays a factor. I kept my daytime Bend outfits chill and casual with a touch of my typical flair.
One of my favorite cold weather combos is an oversized sweater over the top of my Spanx Faux Leather leggings. Seriously, if you don’t have a pair of these leggings yet and you live somewhere cold, they are amazing.

On one of the afternoons we took a shopping trip to the Old Mill District. This area not only has some great local boutiques and national stores, but also has incredible dining, art galleries, and a movie theater. I went with my “easy on, easy off” outfit combo I always go-to for shopping, which usually involves pants, a top and pair of shoes that are easy to take off and on. This Lattelier camel wool coat was the perfect topper to keep me warm and chic.
While shopping, I picked up a new top at the Buckle…man I haven’t shopped there since I was about 18 so that was a blast from the past! I loved this mesh top so much I threw it on for wine tasting at Va Piano later that afternoon. I was in need of a new “sexy top” and love how this one fits!
Of course, sometimes you just want to be comfy and cute all at once. A black onesie/leotard (not sure what to call this?!) is a great base piece on which to layer for different looks. It looks great with a long shacket thrown over top with some Docs!
Night time Outfit Ideas
You might recall that I previously said the general style aesthetic of Bend, Oregon is pretty casual. I would say this applies to a night time look as well, but of course, I can only keep it casual for so long! On our first night we went to Domaine Serene, which is an upscale wine lounge and I just wanted to feel a little fancy, ya know? This silk slip dress with my “ballerina sweater” in a neutral color palette felt just right. I brought the fancy down a couple notches by pairing with my Doc Martens.
If you’re like Elsa and the cold doesn’t bother you anyway, maybe you might dare to show some leg! This was another night out look that I really loved. I didn’t really spend too much time outside so no need to worry! I stayed pretty warm.
This fab faux leather blue coat is also from Noize! While it isn’t super warm, it really is giving all the fun 70’s vibes with that faux shearling collar!
