The 70’s seem to be alive and well again in my wardrobe! Of course…I’m not implying that they ever were alive and well before really since you know…I wasn’t alive then. I must admit, the 70’s were never an era that I was ever dying to have come back “in,” but now that they’re here, I’m embracing it and I’m diggin’ it. Playing around with retro styles is something I love to do and it’s definitely fun to explore 70’s fashion since it has been so prevalent lately.
One thing that I can definitely get behind when it comes to 70’s trends is high-waisted everything. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: high-waisted pants are your friend because you can’t possibly get the dreaded muffin top with these babies. If you think about it, they’re sort of like built-in spanx. For me, high-waisted pants are the best because I am not constantly pulling my pants up, my shirt down, or in general fidgeting with my clothing making sure its all in place. These pants from Free People are such a fun addition to your spring and summer wardrobe. They have a total 70’s vibe but keep it current with the ever popular frayed hem that is everywhere as of late. They key with pants that are cut this high and are cropped and wide leg is you want to make sure people know you have a waist. Unless you’re a runway model who is super thin and tall, you pretty much have to wear a shirt that is either meant to be tucked in or a crop top with these, otherwise, you’re going to look a bit shapeless. Another cute option would be a button down with the ends tied at the waist. Basically, as long as you accentuate your waist when it comes to pants like these, you’re golden.
